The 6-to-2 Ratio

I read something recently that stuck with me.

Founders are fragile. For every 6 reasons they think of to quit, they find just 2 reasons to keep going.

Six to two. That's the ratio.

It sounds discouraging. Like the math is working against us. Like we're irrational for continuing when the reasons to stop outweigh the reasons to persist.

But here's another way to look at it.

Two reasons are enough.

You don't need the scales to balance. You don't need more pros than cons. You don't need a spreadsheet that proves you should keep building.

You just need two reasons that matter more than the six that don't.

Maybe it's the users who told you your product changed something for them. Maybe it's the vision you can't let go of. Maybe it's just the stubborn belief that you're onto something, even when the evidence is thin.

Those two reasons carry weight that the other six can't match. Quality over quantity.

So if you're sitting here at the end of the year, counting all the reasons this is hard — that's fine. Keep counting. But don't stop until you find the two that make it worth it.

They're there. They're always there.

This is Founder FM. Two is enough.
